About Deep South

The United States Pony Clubs, Inc., develops character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through a program that teaches the care of horses and ponies, riding and mounted sports.

The Deep South Region of the United States Pony Clubs (USPC), Inc.  serves members in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida and parts of southern Tennessee.   

USPC is a non-profit equestrian youth and adult educational organization which is considered one of the leading equestrian organizations in the world, represented throughout 30 countries! The cornerstones of our foundation are education, safety, sportsmanship, stewardship, and FUN. Through both educational and competition opportunities  members learn riding, the care of horses and mounted sports. The skills, habits and values instilled through horsemanship will apply to every part of your life. Many of our graduates feel that Pony Club helped shape their character and the choices they’ve made as adults.

It is not necessary for a member to own a horse or pony to participate in pony club activities, but they must have access to one when required. Currently the Deep South Region offers programs and competitions in dressage, eventing, show jumping and tetrathlon. We also provide clinic opportunities to help our members achieve their upper level certifications.

During "unmounted" club meetings members learn about feeding, shoeing, veterinary care, and other areas of horse management. Under adult supervision, the more experienced pony Club members instruct and assist younger members.
